Wright's Martial Arts promotes its first female Blue Belt in BJJ!

goal at Wright's eXtreme Martial Arts in Jacksonville, NC

Ground fighting styles such as Pancrase and BJJ are difficult enough as it is, the average person takes 10 to 12 years to achieve their black belt. But when you are a woman taking on men who are sometimes twice your weight, the challenge is even greater. Wright’s eXtreme Martial Arts student Nohelia Guilott doesn’t let her gender, or her status as a busy mom and Navy wife, affect her training. Guilott is the first female student at Wright’s Martial Arts to achieve the incredible feat of earning her Blue Belt in Brazillian Jui Jitsu, and is well on her way to earning her black belt. “I just love the class” Guilott says of the BJJ class at Wright’s. “I train as much as I can because I love it, and because I want to be the best I can be. {Wright’s} definitely helps me achieve that.” Brazilian Jiu Jitsu has a belt system of 5 belts from white to black. Blue is the second belt (after white) followed by purple, brown, and then black. Because ground fighting styles are so complicated and have many hundreds of different moves and variation on moves, earning any of the belts is an achievement to be proud of, especially as one of the few females who train in it. Guilott is as dedicated as any of our male students, if not more. “If I am not at home taking care of my children I am here.” She says, “I just want to get my black belt so bad, and I have already done more than I expected, and I love the feeling of exceeding my goals!” Nohelia Guilott also has a blue belt in Kempo Karate, a traditional martial art taught at the school. She is only 1 belt away from achieving her black belt in Kempo. Guilott should be an inspiration to all martial artists, not just females. Remember, anyone can reach their goals if you want it enough, and Wright’s eXtreme Martial Arts can help!
